Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island

We made another classic pilgramage---The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Statue of Liberty is not on Ellis Island--I didn't know that.

This is the registry room. This is where hundreds of immigrants (everyday) would sit as they went through all the red tape to find out whether or not they would be allowed to stay in America or whether they would be sent home. Here is my soap box: Ellis island is boring, but I was reminded how people for more than 200 years have been flocking to this country. We have been a standard bearer not only for freedom but also opportunity. Millions of people gave up everything just for a 'chance' to 'maybe' stay in America. That many people can't be wrong. Now, all the people preaching 'change ' right now, need to clarify to me what they think needs to change. I want change in government corruption but not a change in the fundamentals that have made America the open arms to millions of immigrants seeking something better for themselves. WE LIVE IN THE 'BETTER'! 'Spreading the wealth' is a change in America's fundamentals--it's socialism. Socialism is anti-work, anti-creativity, anti-ambition, anti-ingenuity, anti-opportunity, and anti-individuality. It is the garden for mediocrity. Redefining marriage is also a change in America's fundamentals. And if anyone thinks that redefining marriage is just about extending 'civil' rights to homosexual people--they are wrong. It is also about repressing religious freedom. The advocates for same sex marriages are poised to sue and squash any church preaching anything different. It's also about a parents' right to ask about and be a part of what is being taught our children in the public schools WE pay for. I know I'm preaching to the choir here because most people I know think like me. But, if you don't, please email me and make your case. I welcome any info that would help me understand. Ok, I couldn't help it. I love America.

O Christmas Tree...?

The story behind this tree is pretty funny--it's Connecticut at it's 'best'. This is a cell phone tower. The people in Greenwich, CT, did not want a cell phone tower obstructing thier lovely scenery. So, the company agreed to make it blend in with the scenery. They did a great job--didn't they? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get to see it everytime we drive south on the freeway. What wonderful scenery! The original cell phone tower would have attracted LESS attention. Ah, Connecticut. Everytime we drive by, I laugh, I can't help it--I'm laughing right now trying to post it. HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!! They should put some Christmas lights on it and some glass ornaments and a star. Sing with me,
"Oh cell phone tower! Oh cell phone tower!
How lovely are thy branches!
You stand up high above the rest,
with fake tree leaves you have been dressed!
Oh cell phone tower! Oh cell phone tower!
How lovely are thy branches."

TAGGED BY ANNIE!

Ok, I was tagged by Annie. So here is the 4th picture in my 4th picture file. This is a picture we took on a family trip. I just thought the freeway was so pretty covered with all those trees. But, since this is kind of a boring picture..........................
...I asked Jackson to pick a random number between 1 & 10, he picked 3. So here is the 4th picture in my 3rd picture file. This was 2 yrs ago I think. We made gingerbread houses (I mean, graham cracker houses) for Family Home Evening. This is actually a good picture of me--I like it. OK, I don't know who has been tagged and who hasn't. So I tag Johanna, Jalynn Bryson, and Jessica. Post the 4th picture in your 4th picture file.

Jack-o-lantern Blaze

We went to a Jack-o-lantern festival. There were many many pumpkins--over 5000 to be exact. Once again, my pictures arent' that great. All the lights are jack-o-lanterns. The dinosaur section was my favorite. Everything was made out of stacked jack-o-lanterns.

dinosaurs...some of these dinosaurs may have taken 100 pumpkins. This is a hard picture to make out. These dinosaurs covered a huge spance of lawn. I tried to get them all in one picture. I stink at taking pictures.these pirates were life size...here is what the spider web looks like in the light.....here is what it looks like in the dark.....

Dr. Corey

Corey went on a field trip to the local hospital. His favorite part of the field trip was seeing the x-rays and 'peoples bones'. Now he is a doctor, but if he grabs a scalpel.....RUN!

Pumpkin Farm

We went to a pumpkin farm today. It was fun. They had a small farm, apple picking, a country store, and of course, pumpkins. We bought a few pumkins--expensive pumpkins--now we all have to dress up as garbage bags on Halloween 'cause we spent our money! But we had fun! There aren't many pictures because my camera was low on batteries.

Chair con

Corey, you may think this chair is doing it's job, but it's not.

Corey's Birthday

Corey helped make his own birthday cake. We made a swirl cake. It was good. No surprise, it's a shark. I think this is the last year for the shark. Corey had a great birthday,
