Monopoly--a friendly game
Of course, we can't use the peices that came with the game.
Megan is the banker.
Jessy is sitting this one out but can't resist being close to the action.
And the game begins........
There's rolling and counting....
Card drawing.......
and money collecting.....
poor ethics lessons for children.....(read the card)
much contemplating.......

much contemplating.......
and debating of the rules (this is a mild debate).........
and of course there is losing and moping.

What a fun game!!

kitchen makeover
We gave our kitchen a cheap makeover. We didn't take any official 'before' pictures so I had to find some in the archives. Here are a few before pictures. Grayish blue paint, brown cabinets, cheap hood over the stove....
beautiful linoleum and counter tops......
clunky cabinet hardware--40 years old.
the stove isn't too bad--it's just half white half black--weird. The only fixture we don't have a picture of is the old light fixture. It was 5 cheap gumball lights put together in a circle. It was classic....and unique, for sure.
And now.................................
We sanded and painted the cabinets, turned 2 of the cabinets into open shelves, replaced the lights, replaced the counter tops--they are still laminate, but it looks nicer. We kept the sink but replaced the faucet, replaced all the other hardware and obviously, we painted. The dishwasher was new when we moved in, we replaced the cheap hood with the microwave awhile back and Jason tiled the floors last year. If we thought we were going to be here awhile, we would replace the stove and the refridgerator. But, we will let someone else do that. Chances are, the next person to move in will rip the whole kitchen out and remake it in their own image.

Nicely done.
Corey's Motorcycle Ride
This is our hometeacher, Kelly Kortman taking Corey for a spin on his motorcycle one Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, Corey loved it. They even went speeding down the Merritt Parkway. Corey often saw Brother Kortman come to church on his motorcycle with his son on the back. So, one day he asked if he could have a ride. Brother Kortman came over after church one Sunday just to give Corey a ride. What are hometeachers for? What a guy.

Jessica and Taylor all dressed up!
Megan and Jackson hiding for some mischevious reason no doubt.
2002 Jackson losing his pants in true gangster form.
Jason had climbed out on the roof to take down Christmas lights and these two were hovering ever so curiously by the open window. Look how innocent their smiles are.
