Hermit crab

Megan has been somewhat fascinated with hermit crabs ever since her 2nd grade teacher had them in her classroom. So, Megan decided she wanted to buy a hermit crab. I told her sure, not thinking she was really serious. But after explaining how much it would cost to buy a cage, and sand, and all that, she still wanted to, and what do you know, she actually has tons of money. So she could afford it. Well I couldn't go back on my word. So Megan bought a hermit crab.
She paid for everything--including a book about how to take care of it--with her own money.
I'm so proud of her. She is very responsible and will do a good job taking care of it. Sadly, we've determined that it's molting right now. It has burroughed down where you can't see it. It will probably stay like that for 3 weeks. That is a bummer. Anyway, it's a tiny little one and Megan named it Bubbles. When it is done molting it will need a new shell so we had to go buy an assortment of shells for it to try on when it gets done. We'll put pictures of it up next week.
Hermit crabs are cute when they have shells on them. When they don't have shells they look like a cross between a cockroach and a slug. It's a little creepy.
